Greg has spent a lifetime encouraging people — especially those in ministry. Today, he mentors pastors and church leaders, helping them navigate obstacles, grow as leaders, and make a lasting difference in their calling.
A Life of Pastoring
Greg and his wife, Nancy, pastored for 38 years across six churches in Illinois. Along the way, they learned to lead congregations of every size — from intimate gatherings of 25 to thriving communities of 300 — and discovered that faithful ministry looks different at every scale.
Greg's philosophy has always been simple: you don't just pastor a church, you pastor a community. That conviction shaped how he served far beyond the pulpit. He held leadership roles as Men's Representative, Section Alternate Presbyter, and Presbyter. He chaired the Red Cross in one county, led the Ministerial Association in most of the towns where he pastored, and served on the Board of Directors at the Canton Chamber of Commerce, where he chaired the Business and Community Development Committee.
He has also stepped in as an Interim Pastor at churches throughout Illinois, and regularly fills the pulpit for pastors on sabbatical.
A Heart for the World
Greg and Nancy's ministry hasn't stayed within state lines — or national ones. They've filled in for missionaries in Taiwan, Okinawa, and Sasebo, Japan, and Greg has taken the stage at churches and college campuses in Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, the Philippines, and Japan.
Leadership Development
In March 2012, Greg joined the Maxwell Leadership Team, deepening his lifelong commitment to developing leaders — a passion that now shapes his writing as much as his mentoring.
The Journey Series
Greg is the author of three books in his Journey series:
- Journey to Significance: Navigating Roadblocks…
- Journey to Mentoring: 13 Guideposts to Mentoring Well
- Journey to Be the Church: Navigating Five Behaviors of a Thriving Church
He is currently writing his fourth installment, Journey to Character: A Pathway to the Character of Christ, set for release in early 2027.
Family
Greg and Nancy have four adult children and seven grandchildren, who keep them grounded, grateful, and — most days — thoroughly entertained.
